EDGE Project Description

Last summer, I decided to write and illustrate a children’s book. As an accounting/economics major, I wanted a chance to showcase my creativity.  My parents always taught me to be brave and strong and I wanted to share that lesson with others.

The story is about a worrisome little hippo that can’t enjoy life, because he is too afraid of what could happen. He learns to face these fears by talking to his friends in the zoo. They each do things that frighten the hippo. He learns that he is brave and strong can do the things his friends do too.

As I brainstormed what the hippo would learn from each animal, I thought back to my childhood fears. This helped me realize that I have become braver and can do hard things (like the hippo!). Writing this story allowed me to face many of my own fears.
